Product Description
The Amethyst Queen mining area, located South of Grand Junction, Colorado, is once again under claim and is producing very nice clusters of Amethyst combined with many other associated minerals. This Amethyst is different in that it tends to be lighter in color than the Arizona, Brazil or Uruguay Amethyst. However, there is also substantial color-zoning in this material causing a gradual change from almost clear white quartz to dark purple, and everything in between within each individual crystal. Some crystals even have a presence of Citrine, which is a first for Colorado.
Robert Michael acquired a large quantity of these Amethyst crystals, specifically from the Humming Bird Mine. Robert faceted one of the crystals into these two matching 6x4mm oval gemstones weighing 1/2 carat total. He then set the gems in Sterling Silver Post Earrings.
Amethyst is the February Birthstone.
