Robert Michael has maintained a long-term relationship with a miner in Sri Lanka, who has been a reliable source of rare gem-quality Chrysoberyl crystals as well as many other types of semi-precious gemstone material which originate in that area.

Chrysoberyl is very rare and some consider it a Collectors Gemstone.   At this location, it occurs in this greenish yellow color.  At other locations, the crystals may be a golden yellow, green, brownish or red.   In fact, Alexandrite, one of the June Birthstones, is a color-change variety of Chrysoberyl.  Chrysoberyl has a relatively high hardness of 8.5 on the Mohs Scale and is very suitable for all forms of jewelry.

Robert purchased several of these crystals and has faceted them over time into various shapes and sizes including these two matching, deep-cut 7x5mm gemstones, weighing a total of 2.12 carats.  He then set the gems in Rhodium-plated 14kt White Gold Post Earrings.
