Robert Michael mines for Topaz near Lake George, Colorado, most notably in the Tarryall Mountains. Typically, these crystals have no color, which may seem like an odd way to describe White Topaz. However, Robert has also found Topaz with a very light tint of yellow or blue, and on a very rare occasion, a red tint. These shades of so light, that a side-by-side comparison comes in handy. The Topaz crystal that Robert used here has a very slight yellow tint. He faceted the crystal into this 15mm round gem, weighing 15.28 carats. The slight yellow tint is caused by the presence of Iron molecules in the crystal’s atomic structure. Robert decided to set the gem in a Sterling Silver Pendant.
