Citrine occurs naturally in a wide variety of yellow colors, all of which are caused by varying quantities of iron atoms in the Citrine crystal structure. We often see very pale or almost colorless Citrine. With higher quantities of iron, we see orange, wine-yellow, honey-yellow, and saffron (reddish)-yellow specimens, while others have quite a pronounced brown tinge.
Robert purchased several medium shade Citrine crystals from a mining resource in Brazil. He faceted one crystal into this 9x7mm oval gemstone weighing almost 2 carats. There is some color zoning in the gem which means the yellow shading can be sporadic as shown in the images. A very interesting piece. Robert set the gem in Sterling Silver Pendant.
For this Pendant, we recommend an 18” or 20” Light Rope Sterling Silver Chain, #1120.
