Robert acquired a large quantity of these Amethyst crystals from a private mining operation located near Grand Junction, Colorado. He's faceted many of these over time including this 12x9mm oval gemstones, which have been placed in a Size 7 Sterling Silver Ring.  
 
This Amethyst is different in that it tends to be lighter in color than the Arizona, Brazil or Uruguay Amethyst, and therefore easily identifiable.  There is also some very unique color-zoning in this material causing a gradual change from almost clear white to a near black purple, and everything in between within each individual crystal. As such, each of these gems are different and very beautiful.
 
Amethyst is the February Birthstone.
