Robert acquired a large quantity of Amethyst crystals from a private mining operation near Grand Junction, CO.  Robert chose one of the darkest crystals and faceted this 11x9mm oval gem weighing 4 carats and set it in a 14kt Yellow Gold Pendant. 
 
There is also some very unique color-zoning in this material causing a gradual change from almost clear White Quartz to a near black purple, and everything in between within each individual crystal. As such, each of these gems are different and very beautiful.
